Watchdog: Yandex does everything to respect court move

MOSCOW, Aug 31 (PRIME) -- A full check conducted by the Russian communications service of Yandex has showed that the Internet company implements all the measures to follow the court’s decision to cut access to illegally distributed video content of local Gazprom-Media Holding, the authority’s Deputy Director Vadim Subbotin said on Friday.

“We’ve just completed full scrutiny and we’ve interacted with all the parties. We’re in constant contact with people from the both parties: Yandex and Gazprom-Media. As of today, we register that Yandex implements all the steps to execute the decision of the Moscow City Court on interim measures to protect the rights owned by Gazprom-Media and requirements of the communications service,” Subbotin said.

At the moment, the watchdog does not plan to block Yandex services.

The communications service gave Yandex time until Friday to follow the decision of the Moscow City Court that ordered to take interim measures and stop illegal distribution of several series and a show of Gazprom-Media Holding’s four TV channels. In case of misconduct, the authority could block Yandex.Video, which, in its turn, could entail problems for yandex.ru.

“We find it reasonable and more effective that disputes related to distribution of pirated content by Yandex’s resources should be further settled on the basis of self-regulation and mutual agreements…We confirm our readiness to act as a coordinating party in establishing a dialogue between copyright holders and Yandex,” Subbotin said.
